“my dream is to create something that is not there - you’d approach it and you’d feel the sheer energy”

The studio has broken ground on a challenging new project, a historic 1912 listed building by Dutch architect Jan Gerko Wiebenga, which valentin recently acquired from the city government.
The three-story brutalist structure, an abandoned cokes factory at the entrance of Maastricht’s city center, will hold an expanded studio, staff and equipment and host a 4000m2 public space with a botanical garden and park, artist residencies and guest studios.

Completion of the restoration and the new atelier space , which requires extensive official permissions and paperwork is slated for 2021. The public space will follow in a 2nd stage once the studio is operating in the new building.
